Getting Started

Gifox is a macOS status bar app for recording, converting, editing and sharing GIFs. Below you will find information on how to get started with the app and can also visit the frequently asked questions for more details.

🔗System Requirements

The latest 2.6.4 version of Gifox requires macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later in order to run correctly. If you're running an earlier version of macOS you can check out the earlier Gifox versions and find the one that supports your system version.

🔗Downloading Gifox

You can download Gifox for free directly from our website or from the Mac App Store. Alternatively, you can get it on Setapp if have an active subscription.

All Gifox distributions are exactly the same apart from licensing mechanisms, which are not compatible with each other. If you previously purchased the app make sure to download it from the same place.

We recommend getting Gifox from our website if you haven't got the Pro version yet – it has a Beta channel and updates arrive a few days earlier because we control everything directly.

🔗Free vs. Pro Version

Gifox is available as a free and as a Pro version. The free version comes with a 10-second recording and export limit and adds a tiny foxy watermark on exported graphics. The Pro version is paid and removes these restrictions.

🔗Purchasing & Activating Pro Version

The official Gifox app can be purchased directly from our website and on the Mac App Store, or can be used as part of an existing Setapp subscription.

To activate Gifox Pro open the licensing dialog from the library popover or main menu and follow the instructions.

🔗Discounted Upgrades

Previous version license owners can upgrade to the latest Pro version with a 35% discount. To get the upgrade discount open the licensing dialog from the library popover or main menu and follow the instructions.
