New pricing
Gifox 3 will also come with increased pricing – we hate to do this, and we’ve been delaying it for a long time, but unfortunately (as most of you know) apps don’t make and maintain themselves.

Lately Gifox hasn’t been bringing in enough to support us working on it full-time, and things got a little quiet while we explored other ideas to keep the business running. We love creating polished products and most of our users are creators themselves – we all enjoy and appreciate apps with that “above-average” attention to detail, and that’s how we want to keep Gifox.
As things stand now, we have two options: keep the current pricing and move Gifox into maintenance mode, or increase it so we can continue ongoing development – neither is perfect, and we know we can’t make everyone happy.
So we’ll be raising the price while keeping the one-time purchase model, but with one year of free upgrades – and before that, we’ll do a major update of Gifox 2 so it continues to work. Here’s exactly what we’re going to do:
Gifox 2 will receive the big round of updates and fixes before Gifox 3 replaces it – this should hopefully make it last through the next major macOS release or two, which is what usually breaks the app.
Gifox 3 pricing will increase to $24 (or similarly in other currencies), but it will remain a one-time purchase with one year of free updates. This helps us avoid switching to a subscription model, and we won’t be locking you out of older versions.
Gifox 3 will have a new plan for teams with centralized license management, self-hosted cloud sharing integrations, and other business-focused features.
Existing Gifox 2 users who purchased their license within 12 months of the Gifox 3 release will be able to switch to Gifox 3 for free, and keep receiving free updates for that remaining time.
We’ll offer a 50% discount for subscription-like annual renewals, and we’ll continue offering 30% educational discounts for students and teachers.
We believe this is a fair and balanced approach for everyone: existing users who are not ready to upgrade can keep using their older paid version; users who want the latest version can refresh at half the price; and teams will be able to get extra features with a separate plan.
